ARROYO CENTER, Monterey County — October 30, 2026. The public water utility serving Arroyo Center is one of California’s small privately regulated systems. In a April 21, 2025 statewide count, the California Public Utilities Commission lists Arroyo Center Water Company with 60 service connections, placing the company among Class D water utilities.
Where is the service area?
CPUC’s regulated-utility directory describes the service territory as the Arroyo Seco area near Fred’s Camp, approximately 14 miles west of Greenfield. The newer CPUC directory, dated January 20, 2026, lists Mason Weidner-Holland as water-system operator and gives (831) 521-5221, with a mailing address of P.O. Box 2412, Seaside, CA 93955. Earlier directories gave a different address and telephone number; customers should use the newer CPUC contact and confirm directly if it has since changed. A mailing or business address does not necessarily mean all nearby properties are connected to the utility; customers should confirm their own supplier.
Why does the count matter?
A system with about 60 connections has different staffing and financing constraints from a citywide utility with thousands of customers. CPUC’s report identifies the category and approximate number of connections, not the capacity of its pumps, available backup power or risk of interruption. An older 2017 rate decision referred to 62 connections; readers should not infer precisely which households connected or disconnected from that difference because these records describe different reporting dates and methods.
Does this tell us whether water is safe?
No. The number of customer connections is unrelated to contaminant test results. California’s Drinking Water Watch lists the separately regulated public system CA2701658. The 2025 Consumer Confidence Report contains the relevant supplier-reported drinking-water results. California58 has already covered those laboratory findings in a separate article and also reported a September 2026 CPUC financial-reporting noncompliance notice. A Class D designation is not a water-quality violation and should not be confused with the financial compliance notice.
What should residents check next?
For outages, service boundaries, billing questions and current account notices, contact the supplier. For tariff changes, review orders and advice letters published by the CPUC. For water quality, use state system number CA2701658 to locate the correct reports rather than data from neighboring Arroyo Seco water systems.

Editor’s note: This is a utility-service-area and capacity guide based on dated public lists, not an announcement of a new water connection, rate increase, contamination finding or outage in October 2026.
